Jordan and Syria

We started and ended our week long tour in Amman, Jordan although the majority of the trip was to the archeological and historic sites of interest in Syria. In 1993 there were no direct flights to Syria from the UK. We visited and passed through many places whose names I had not heard before I arrived but which are now, 25 years later, likely to be familiar around the world for all the wrong reasons. The people we met were welcoming and friendly and I am saddened and ashamed that when the Syrian people needed our help we let them down.
